Football - Europa League
Venue: Allianz Stadion

Rapid Vienna

Rapid Vienna is in a must-win situation, as they failed to record a positive result in their first two matches in the group stage of the Europa League. Back in October, they suffered a defeat against Arsenal at home with 1:2, and last Thursday came with another negative result on the road against Molde.

The hosts from Norway had the upper hand during the entire encounter and, not surprisingly, took a victory here with only a minimal result. The only goal in this clash was scored in the 65th minute over Omoijuanfo when he put the ball in the back of the net, after a great team's effort.

The Austrian team has a perfect chance in this clash to stay competitive for the playoff phase, as in terms of quality, they have a huge advantage over Dundalk.

Dundalk is entering this clash as a serious underdog. Not surprisingly, they suffered two losses in their European campaign, as they simply lack quality. In their opening match against Molde, they suffered a 1:2 defeat, playing as a home team, and in their second one, Arsenal had an easy job at home, defeating them with 3:0.

The Irish team had a 0:2 deficit after the first forty-five minutes, and with the way the situation on the field developed, the only question in this one was what would be the goal difference. A minute has passed since the beginning of the second part when the hosts raised their lead to 3:0, and seemingly satisfied with the result, brought this match to an end without any difficulties.

In a group with Arsenal, Molde, and Rapid Vienna, Dundalk, in my opinion, has no chance to be competitive, but never the less, progressing to the Europa League group stage is a very good result for their standards.

Huge advantage

Rapid seems to be working really well in the attack in the domestic league where they face up against teams that are way above Dundalk's quality actually. This is a perfect and the last chance for the Austrians to get back on track and be more competitive for the first two positions and I believe that they won't blow it up.

Not only that, it's a perfect chance to show their best and get a convincing victory in Europe and they should use it. Knowing the quality difference and offensive potential of the hosts, two goals difference really comes as a minimum outcome they can get with a decent focus.
